BUILDING FROM ANYWHERE

Building at home while living abroad. We've done this before.

Sieben Construction helps clients living abroad build and renovate homes in Lusaka and across Zambia — with structured communication, transparent costs, and a team you can trust from any time zone.

WE UNDERSTAND THE CHALLENGE

You’ve heard the stories. Maybe you’ve lived one.

You sent money to a relative to supervise a build — and what you found on your next visit did not match what you paid for. Or you hired a builder directly, only to experience slow progress, poor communication, and workmanship that fell well below what was agreed. Some clients who come to us have lost money altogether, with nothing to show for it.

These are not rare stories. They are common enough that many Zambians living abroad have stopped trusting the process entirely. They want to build at home, but the risk feels too high when you cannot be there to see what is happening with your own eyes.

We built Sieben to change that. Not with promises, but with a process — one designed specifically so that distance does not have to mean uncertainty.

HOW IT WORKS

A structured process — from your first message to your keys.

1

Initial conversation

It starts with a message — usually via WhatsApp or email. We schedule a virtual meeting at a time that works across both time zones. This first conversation is about understanding your project: what you want to build, your timeline, your budget, and any concerns you have. No pressure, no obligation.

2

Site visit and design

If you have a trusted friend or family member in Zambia, they can meet us at the site on your behalf. If not, we handle the site assessment ourselves and report back with photos and findings. If you do not yet have architectural designs, we connect you with architects and manage the design process so you are not coordinating across multiple parties from abroad.

3

Scope, costing, and contract

Once designs are finalised, we prepare a detailed Bill of Quantities and a construction quote. The Bill of Quantities is prepared at a fee, which we agree with you upfront. You receive a clear breakdown of what everything costs before any commitment is made. We then work through contract terms together — covering scope, payment milestones, timelines, and communication expectations — so that both sides know exactly what has been agreed.

4

Construction with full visibility

This is where trust is built, not just promised. During construction, you receive formal written progress reports with photographs at defined intervals. We also send milestone updates via WhatsApp so you can see your project taking shape in real time. If unexpected conditions arise on site — and in construction, they sometimes do — we communicate early and work with you to make decisions together rather than making them on your behalf without your knowledge.

5

Handover

When your project is complete, we conduct a thorough inspection before handover. You receive your keys knowing the work has been completed to the standard that was agreed — not a version of it.

Built for distance

What you can expect when you build with Sieben from abroad.

Your money is accounted for

Payments are made via bank transfer according to agreed milestones. You receive a detailed Bill of Quantities before work begins, and every payment corresponds to a defined stage of construction. You will always know where your money is going.

You are never in the dark

Formal progress reports with photos are sent at regular intervals. WhatsApp updates keep you connected to your site between reports. You do not have to chase us for information — it comes to you on a schedule.

Challenges are shared, not hidden

Construction rarely goes exactly as planned. When something unexpected comes up — site conditions, material availability, design adjustments — we tell you immediately and work through the options together. No surprises after the fact.

Your time zone is not a barrier

We schedule meetings and calls at times that work for where you are. Whether you are in London, Sydney, Johannesburg, or New York, we make the logistics of communication our problem, not yours.

A client’s experience

“I will definitely engage Sieben to complete the other unit.”

This project had been going on for years. At some point I almost gave up. Now I can walk into my house and not pay rent.

Whether you are in the UK, USA, Australia, South Africa, or anywhere else

If you are a Zambian living abroad and want to build at home — this page was written for you.

Most of our diaspora clients contact us from the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and South Africa. But we work with Zambians wherever they are. Whether you are planning a new home in Lusaka, completing a project that stalled, or renovating a family property — the process above applies to you. The first step is the same for everyone: a conversation.

Common questions from clients abroad

How do I know my money will be used properly?

Payments are structured around agreed construction milestones and made via bank transfer. You receive a Bill of Quantities and a clear scope of work before anything is committed. Every payment corresponds to a defined stage, and you receive progress reports confirming what has been completed at each milestone.

Do I need someone on the ground in Zambia to represent me

It helps, but it is not required. Some clients designate a trusted friend or family member to attend site visits on their behalf. Others rely entirely on our team and our reporting. Either approach works — we adapt to what is most comfortable for you.

What if I do not have house plans or designs yet?

We can help. We work with architects and facilitate the design process on your behalf, so you are not trying to coordinate between multiple professionals from abroad. Once designs are finalised, we prepare the Bill of Quantities and construction quote.

How often will I receive updates on my project?

You receive formal written progress reports with photographs at regular intervals throughout the build. Between reports, we send WhatsApp updates at key milestones. You will never have to chase us for information

What happens if something goes wrong during construction?

Construction can be unpredictable — unexpected site conditions, material delays, or design adjustments are a normal part of building. What matters is how they are handled. We communicate challenges as soon as they arise and work with you to agree on the best path forward. You will never discover a problem after the fact that we knew about and did not tell you

Can I visit the site during construction?

Absolutely. Many diaspora clients plan visits around key milestones. We are happy to schedule a site walkthrough during your trip and bring you up to speed in person.

Ready to start building — from wherever you are?

Tell us about your project. Whether you have detailed plans or just an idea, we will schedule a virtual consultation at a time that works for your time zone and walk you through exactly how the process works
