Job Title: Intern – Quantity Surveyor
Job Type: Full-time Internship
Location: Lusaka
Duration: 3 months (with potential for extension)
Stipend: Yes – covers transport, lunch, and basic expenses
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cost estimation, project budgeting, and contract management within the construction industry. You’ll work alongside our experienced technical and finance teams to ensure our projects are delivered within budget and on time
💼 Key Responsibilities
As our Quantity Surveyor Intern, you’ll be involved in the commercial and financial aspects of construction projects. Your responsibilities will include:
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Assist in preparing project cost estimates and budgets.
- Contribute to feasibility studies and cost analysis.
- Support the monitoring of project budgets to ensure cost control.
Tendering and Procurement:
- Help prepare tender documents, contracts and bills of quantities.
- Assist in evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Participate in procurement activities in line with company procedures.
Contract Management
- Support the administration of construction contracts.
- Assist in processing contractor claims and variations.
- Maintain accurate contract and project documentation.
Project Support
- Work with project managers, engineers and architects to achieve project objectives.
- Conduct site visits to verify quantities and monitor progress.
- Provide cost-related support to ongoing projects.
Financial Reporting and Documentation
- Assist in preparing project financial reports and cash flow updates.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Contribute to the preparation of final accounts and project close-out documents.
✅ Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (recent graduate or early career).
- Basic knowledge of construction contracts, procurement and cost management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to quantity surveying software is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented, organized and able to take initiative.
